David Custer grew up in Iowa, but lived in the Washington, DC area for 42 years. In 1990 he founded an environmental consulting business and was President and CEO for 20 years. He and his wife Marcia moved to Naples full-time in 2014. David works part time at Artis-Naples in the Artist Services Department as a Driver. Prior to joining GCOA 6 years ago, David had only one orchid which his wife had given him as a birthday present 11 years ago. David says the knowledge he has gained from GCOA has been invaluable in expanding his collection and, keeping his numerous and varied orchids “happy and alive”.
